CASA DE ESPERANZA DE LOS NINOS:
Women's Ministry began 2007 with a new focus for our Outreach Program. We have worked with Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos - the House of Hope for Children, in the past and have decided to make a focus our outreach on this ministry.. Through this continuing commitment we hope to become a positive and significant part of this important ministry.
Casa is a safe place for children in crisis due to abuse, neglect, or the effects of HIV/AIDS. Since 1982, its mission has been to provide hope and a home to the most vulnerable members of our community, our children. Casa provides residential, medical, and psychological care to children ages birth to six years whose lives have been disrupted by crisis. The focus of Casa's intervention is the eventual reunification of strengthened, functional families. Since its opening, over 2,000 children have benefited from their care.
This ministry depends heavily on the generosity of the Houston community as it continues to reach out to children in need. The Women's Ministry will help by donating nonperishable food items, diapers, formula, paper products, and cleaning supplies that are used in the daily care of the children. Everything from cribs to car seats, and laundry detergent to Lysol, is needed.
We also hope to help in more relational ways such as arranging for the women of MDPC to read to the children, help with gardening around the facility, or just to hold and rock babies.
