Coffee Club: Refresh and Reconnect

What is Refresh & Reconnect?

A time to gather with Christian women friends on a regular basis ….for fun and fellowship, and some R&R.

When?

• Once a week: same time, same day, same place
• Limit your R&R time to an hour

Where?

• Meet at a coffee shop, sandwich shop, library, park, even an MDPC courtyard area, or a home
• MDPC Rooms can be reserved through Patty Leonard at 713 490 0931  if space is available

Who & How Many?

It is best to have a minimum of five women, and a maximum of eight women.  This will allow enough time for each person to share.   And it increases the likelihood that enough can attend throughout the summer for a group talk.

What Do We Discuss?

Pick one, two or three questions that will remain the same and will bring a depth of conversation about your spiritual lives.  We recommend questions be on a positive note – those that encourage us to recognize God’s provision and what He is doing in our lives.

Here are some great questions to consider:

• What grace has God provided to you this week?
• Where, or in what way is God asking you to take a step of faith this week?
• Where, or in what way is God asking you to surrender to Him?

What kind of Ground RULES for Discussion Do We Need?

Respect one another – be on time, be interested, quietly listen to other’s experiences, no side conversations

Understanding – the greatest gift you can give; no advice-giving during group, it is often the most unwanted gift

Limit Yourself – everyone needs a chance to speak, don’t dominate the conversation

Excel in confidentiality – what is said in your R&R group stays there, period, paragraph!

Stay on task – answer the question, avoiding to much unnecessary information or straying off the point

You may also want to consider the “No Show” Rule:

If no one has arrived after 10 minutes of the preset start time, then you are free to leave.

YOUR FIRST MEETING……..WHAT TO DO:

1. Start on time, the first time and always
2. Introduce yourself and immediately welcome everyone
3. Invite each member to introduce herself and answer an ice-breaker question
   • People would be surprised to find out that I __________________.
   • Share with us an important event that happened in your life recently.
   • What was your first paying job?
4. Review the ground rules together.  Ask if there is anything anyone wants to add to them.
5. Present the weekly question(s) that you would like to consider.
6. Choose, as a group, which question(s) you will use weekly.
7. Close in a brief prayer. End on time.
